BEYOND MISS JULIE
TEATER LYCKE (2026)
THEATER
Premiere January 27, Lamberts hörna
Welcome to the epilogue you have either been waiting for or will be completely surprised by! August Strindberg’s classic Miss Julie portrays a Julie who is feeling absolutely miserable and a Jean who, in his final line, commands her to go and end her life. In our production, she doesn’t. Instead, the razor remains safely tucked away in the bathroom cabinet.
After Midsummer’s Eve, the two embark on couples therapy, led by two unlicensed therapists. Can compromises and therapeutic exercises save a relationship in which one wants to climb upwards, branch by branch, while the other wants to fall downwards, all the way to the ground?
The audience is invited onto a therapeutic seesaw between passionate potential and inevitable downfall. In this chamber piece, different theatrical expressions come together to engage the audience, where music, deliberately misinterpreted dialogue, journal entries, excerpts from Strindberg’s play, choreography, fencing, and crocheted genitalia all have a perfectly natural place.
